PITCH IT - Kuwait 10,000$ Business Plan Contest - 10th of March 2011 - Marina Hotel - Organized by Brilliant Lab


Introduction:




Brilliant Lab is the first-start-up accelerator in Kuwait which mainly focuses on mentoring potential entrepreneurs in ME and the Gulf Area by bringing them together under a fast-track mentoring program in order to help them transform their ambitious ideas into international standard start-up business plans so they can be able to pitch their ideas in front of a professional jury and investors.


BL was founded in 2010 by Kuwaiti IE Business school alumni, Neda Aldihany, with his 8 years of experience in managing different projects in the Education and Energy sectors in booth Kuwait and Qatar. After completing his MBA program at IE Business School, he realized the importance of entrepreneurship and how it can be a very strong tool for the Kuwaiti national economy and the Arab world at large. BL aims at making potential entrepreneurs aware that oil revenues are insufficient to be the only source of income. Hence, they need to start investing their time and effort in discovering new untapped businesses and industrial domains to create new jobs, generate returns to the entrepreneurs and also contribute to the growth and development of the country’s GDP and create other sources of revenues to the Country


About the Event:




Pitch it! This competition mainly consists of three parts, including Entrepreneurs, the Jury committee, Key young executive and potential investors.




1ST Entrepreneurs side:


Ø Requirements:


• A person or a group is comprised of a Maximum number of 4 members with business ideas in any sector (Fashion, Online Business, Food, and Sports ETC).


• At least one person from each group must be serious to transform this idea in to a real market business.


• On the pitch day all the presentations will be in English language.


Ø Mentoring period:


• The objective of the mentoring program is to meet together on Saturdays biweekly to make sure each business plan components meet the jury’s categories and intentional standards.


• Starting from 7th of Jan 2012 a preliminary meeting will be held in AUK , Kuwait


• Neda Aldihany and Hesham Elbosaty (BL’s Treasure& CFO) will be the facilitators for the period of the mentoring program.


Ø Registrations terms and conditions:


• Each business idea has to have one leader for emails and communication within the group.


• Each business leader is required to send an executive summary about the business idea (Due date 5th of JAN 2012).


• In the pitch day both of presentations and business plan documents should be in English.




2ND Jury Committee:


• On the pitching day, this jury will comprise of four business academic professors from local and international business schools, three management consultants and three locally recognized young SME’S CEO.


• Each committee member has one vote, and whichever projects get the majority of these votes will receive a prize of (10,000 US Dollars).


3RD Investor:


• One of the most interesting parts of the competition is the high profile investors who will be attending the event and might get serious about investing in these projects.


• After and during any of the pitches, each investor will have the right to ask questions so the entrepreneurs can get the real heat when they meet with potential VC’s, Business angels and investment companies.


Cocktail session:


• After the announcement of a ((Winner)), we will hold a cocktail session for networking among all the participants.


• BL will assist the winners in their capital rising with the different financiers and VCs.
